Carlton Plaza of Elk Grove

Carlton Plaza of Elk Grove is the fourth repetition of the Carlton model for assisted living.

This infill project features 101 living units with 18 double-occupancy memory care units, in a 2-story wood framed building on 4 acres. Carlton Senior Living’s model is to provide a home-like environment for residents that allow them a variety of activity and socialization choices. Activities like cooking demonstrations, hobby areas and general gathering spaces are located near this daily activity hub, which allows staff to easily monitor resident’s activity levels. An enclosed courtyard provides large and small group gathering areas as well as gardens for flowers, fruits and vegetables. The same amenities are provided separately for the use of the memory care residents. Through the development of their prototypical central core and wings, the building can keep this residential feeling and scale, while adapting to specific site shape and needs.
